16 June 2022

The RMT recently announced a strike which will affect services provided by 15 National Rail train companies on 21, 23 and 25 June and Transport for London services on 21 June.

People are being encouraged not to travel unless it is absolutely essential, but if you do need to make a journey we’ve put together as much information as we can to help you get around.

21 June

National Rail

National Rail train companies will be running a severely reduced timetable and trains will only be available between around 7am and 7pm. However, some companies will be running their last trains significantly earlier than 7pm. So if you need to travel it’s worth checking the train provider’s website and National Rail Enquiries.

Further details including information about refunds and ticket acceptance can be found on the National Rail website.

Transport for London

TfL will also be affected by strike action on 21 June. TfL expects severe disruption or no service on all London Underground lines, with no services running before 8am on Wednesday 22 June. Passengers are encouraged to avoid making journeys on 22 June until mid-morning.

There will be a reduced service on the London Overground and Elizabeth Line, and the London Overground will run a reduced service between 7.30am and 6.30pm.

Services that are running on 21 June, including buses and DLR, are likely to be extremely busy with queues to board. Customers using DLR services from stations also served by London Underground are advised to check before they travel due to possible station closures for safety reasons. Walking and cycling may be quicker for some journeys and Santander Cycles will be available, with teams ensuring that bikes are distributed at key locations according to demand. Rental e-scooters are also available to hire in some London boroughs. You can find out more details about alternative ways to make your journey on the TfL website.

23 June

There will be a reduced service on the London Overground and Elizabeth Line, and the London Overground will run a reduced service between 7.30am and 6.30pm.

The London Underground will operate as much of the network as possible. However, disruption is expected from Queen’s Park to Harrow & Wealdstone on the Bakerloo line, on the Richmond and Wimbledon branches of the District line, on the Waterloo & City line, and on the Elizabeth Line. There is also the potential for disruption due to the strike impacting London Underground staff availability, so again you should check before they travel.
