Response to publication of new ORR rail punctuality statistics

19 September 2019

Commenting on the new Office of Rail and Road (ORR) rail punctuality statistics released today, Tim Bellenger, Director of Policy and Investigation at London TravelWatch said: 'While the publication of new "on time" punctuality statistics is a welcome step in the right direction in terms of transparency for passengers, they will rightly be dismayed that over a third of trains arrived at their destinations late over the last year. Passengers should be able to rely on the rail network to get them where they need to go on time but the poor performance of many franchises makes it increasingly hard to justify annual fares increases. We continue to remind passengers to #makedelaypay and claim delay repay compensation whenever they are delayed.'
