Industry must learn lessons from stranded trains chaos, says passenger watchdog

25 March 2019

London TravelWatch has responded to the publication of the Rail Accident Investigation Branch’s (RAIB) report on the issues arising from several stranded trains at Lewisham last March.

Janet Cooke, Chief Executive of London TravelWatch commented: 'We welcome today’s report from the RAIB. However, we remain extremely concerned about the risks to passengers in situations like this. We will continue to work closely behind the scenes to ensure the recommendations are taken forward and that the industry learns and applies the lessons. The UK railway is a very safe system but the potential risks to passengers are significant if incidents like this are not properly managed.'
