Watchdog reacts after passengers in London and the commuter belt are hit with 3.1% fares increase

02 January 2019 Reacting to today's average National Rail fares increase of 3.1%, London TravelWatch Chief Executive Janet Cooke commented: 'Today's fares rise at a time of poor and declining performance, especially in London and the commuter belt is not good news for passengers. It also widens the gap between the cheapest and most expensive fares that we have been highlighting in recent years and shows the urgent need to simplify fares.'
