Number of accessible bus stops in London continues to rise

approaching_tubeLondon TravelWatch, the watchdog for transport users, has issued its latest report examining the performance of Transport for London (TfL) services: buses, tubes, trams, DLR, roads, river and rail. Overall, the performance between July and September 2011 was good and the report shows that the number of accessible bus stops in London continues to rise.

In 2010/11, TfL’s audit showed that 52% of bus stops were accessible but the figure has now improved to 58.2%.

Sharon Grant, Chair, London TravelWatch said: “We have spent several years campaigning on the issue of accessible bus stops so it is pleasing to see a jump in the numbers reported as being accessible.  It is also good to see that bus reliability on busy routes has improved.”

London TravelWatch’s report summarises information about the performance of TfL’s transport network from the perspective of users in one place, with a range of graphs and tables which provide comparative information against performance from previous years.
