London TravelWatch backs TfL’s ‘Safer Travel at Night’ campaign on 12/12/2011
London TravelWatch has appealed to passengers, particularly young women to exercise maximum caution in using unbooked mini-cabs over the Christmas season, in support of TfL’s hard hitting campaign to highlight the dangers of using unbooked mini-cabs.
Whilst London’s Private Hire vehicles are generally safe, there are illegal drivers operating on London’s streets and some of these drivers commit serious criminal offences.
“If you are out at night and are looking to get home, please either flag down a black cab or book a mini-cab through Cabwise by texting CAB to 60835. This is the best way of ensuring your safety. However keen you might be to get home after a good night out, we urge you never to get into a mini-cab or any other vehicle that you haven’t booked. Using a booked cab ensures that the mini-cab office knows you are travelling in one of their cars”, said Sharon Grant, Chair of London TravelWatch.
