London TravelWatch Response to London and South East RUS on 18/03/2011
London TravelWatch has published its response to Network Rail’s London and South East Route Utilisation Strategy (RUS), which takes a 20-30 year view on capacity shortfalls on London’s rail network and sets out plans to address the problem.
In its response, London TravelWatch highlights the importance of the passenger experience when making decisions on investment in London’s railways: all passengers are entitled to a train service that runs frequently, is reliable at all reasonable times of the day and week, good access to all areas, enough capacity and easy interchange between different types of transport in a safe and efficient manner.
London TravelWatch’s submission sets out what London’s passengers want and expect from their train service, looks at the potential for increasing capacity including ideas for new lines and stations and points out problems which the RUS has failed to address.
