Concerns over tube ticket offices on 21/09/2010
London TravelWatch has raised concerns about London Underground’s plan to change ticket office hours or, in some cases, close them entirely.
Sharon Grant, Chair, London TravelWatch said: “We will be discussing this at our public meeting next week and will be examining the concerns passengers have raised with us and looking at the proposals at various stations.”
London TravelWatch has prepared a paper laying out background information and concerns covering some of the problems with the proposals.
Sharon Grant continued: “We are alarmed that London Underground is planning a reduction in services at places where there are a relatively high number of transactions per hour. The established standard used to consider ticket office closures at national rail station is 12 per hour and it would be worrying for London Underground to have a lower standard. We will also discuss potential problems with buying tickets for those with disabilities or those unfamiliar with London and Oyster.”
London TravelWatch’s meeting will be held at its offices in central London on Tuesday 28 September at 10am. Tube ticket office hours will be discussed at 11am.
