Review of London TravelWatch welcome on 24/02/2010

London TravelWatch welcomes the decision by the London Assembly to undertake a review of its role.

London TravelWatch welcomes the decision by the London Assembly to undertake a review of its role.

In a letter sent to every Assembly member, London TravelWatch welcomed the opportunity presented by such a review.

Sharon Grant, Chair, London TravelWatch: "There remains the strongest possible case for a strong and independent voice for the travelling public in London. In fact, as the vested interests in transport have grown with de-regulation, and as public spending is reigned back in the future, a body which can forcefully convey the views and experiences of travellers to industry decision makers will be even more vital.

"London TravelWatch has proved its worth for many years, by acting as the eyes and ears of the travellers across all modes in London. However, we do have an immense task and limited resources. We welcome any contribution the Mayor and the Assembly can make to helping us to do our job better in the difficult times ahead."
