Watchdog welcomes licence decision on 24/09/2009

London TravelWatch, the watchdog for transport users in and around London, has welcomed Transport for London’s (TfL) decision to tighten guidelines for licensing taxi and cab drivers, in the light of a recent case which was made public.

London TravelWatch, the watchdog for transport users in and around London, has welcomed Transport for London’s (TfL) decision to tighten guidelines for licensing taxi and cab drivers, in the light of a recent case which was made public.

London TravelWatch has already been in touch with TfL following recent concerns over licensing issues affecting passenger safety.

Sharon Grant, Chair, London TravelWatch said: “We welcome this decision which we think is the right one made for the right reasons. We will continue to work closely with TfL and the Public Carriage Office to make sure arrangements for granting licences ensure the travelling public can feel confident and safe when using taxis.”
