New Chair for passenger watchdog


New Chair for passenger watchdogLondon TravelWatch, the watchdog for transport users in and around London, has announced Ms Sharon Grant as its new Chair.

Ms Grant comes to the post with a strong consumer background. She has been Chair of the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health for the last six years, and sits on the Food Standards Agency Advisory Committee on Consumer Engagement. She has extensive previous experience in local government and has worked as a parliamentary advisor and an academic.

Taking up her new role, Sharon Grant said: "I am delighted to be joining London TravelWatch at such an important time for the capital. With the Thameslink project, Crossrail, the upgrades on the Tube and preparations for the Olympics all affecting Londoners over the next few years, a strong voice for transport users in London will continue to be of great importance. I am delighted to be able to continue the good work of London TravelWatch."


Sharon Grant has been appointed by the London Assembly on a four-year term as of 1 October 2008 through a competitive process.
