Improvements to Roydon station
What was the issue for passengers?
Greater Anglia proposed a series of major changes at Roydon station including removing the ticket office while the London-bound platform was being redeveloped. However, the operator had no plans to replace it once the work was completed.
What did we do?
We consulted passengers and then formally objected to the plans. We also noted that the station was in extremely poor condition as the operator had not implemented the improvements we had called for some years previously.
What was the outcome?
As a result of our objection, the operator drew up alternative proposals which dealt with almost all the concerns we raised. These included providing an additional ticket machine and CCTV on the country platform and customer information screens on both platforms. The operator also completely rebuilt the London platform, made improvements to the step/gap between train and platform and refurbished the old ticket office and waiting room into an enlarged waiting room. Works were completed at the start of summer 2016.
