InterCity West Coast Franchise Consultation

The Department for Transport has published its InterCity West Coast Consultation Document.

The new InterCity West Coast franchise will replace the current Virgin franchise and is due to commence on the 1 April 2012.  The new InterCity franchise will operate train services from London Euston to West Midlands, North West England, North Wales and Scotland. Services operate at two stations in our area: Euston and Watford Junction.

From the passenger's perspective, the key objectives for the franchise replacement are as follows:

  • Improve passenger satisfaction;
  • Improve accessibility to services and stations;
  • Achieve sustainable value for money for passengers;
  • Manage change with minimal disruptions to passengers.
