London TravelWatch Members

The Committee has 12 members and a part-time remunerated Chair. The London Assembly makes appointments to the Committee for a period of between two and four years, and aims to appoint members reflecting the wide diversity of the travelling public in the Committee's area.

Sharon Grant -  (Chair)

Involvement 

Chairs the Board and the Executive Group, and is ex-officio member of all committees and working groups, and represents London TravelWatch externally.

Background

Formerly Chair of the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health 2002-2008, and sits on the Food Standards Agency Advisory Committee on Consumer Engagement. She has extensive previous experience in local government and has worked as a parliamentary advisor and an academic. 

David Barry

Involvement

Member of the Consumer Affairs and Fares and Ticketing Committees.

Background

Terry Bennett 

Involvement
Sits on the Consumer Affairs and Transport Services Committee. He is lead member for the boroughs of Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Redbridge. 

Background

Headmaster of a primary school in Whitechapel.  He has taken a keen interest in public transport since childhood and is a keen supporter of Portsmouth FC.  A member of the DfES Ethnic Minority Achievement Project Steering Group.

Sayeda Onjali Bodrul

Involvement

Member of the Fares and Ticketing Committee and Access to Transport Committee. She is lead member for the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Greenwich and Newham.


Kevin Davis

Involvement

Member of the Access toTransport Committee, Fares & Ticketing Committee and South West Trains Passenger Panel. Lead Member for Wandsworth, Kingston-upon-Thames and Richmond-upon-Thames boroughs.


Background

A chief executive for a charity working to make buildings and environments accessible for all, and works on engagement between communities and public services. He is also a trustee of the Kingston CAB.

Gail Engert

Involvement

Chair of the Surface Transport Design Forum (Transport for London), the Access to Transport Committee, and member of the Transport Services Committee and Executive Group. Lead Member for Camden, Enfield and Sutton boroughs. 

Background

A partner in a typographic design group, a local councillor for Muswell Hill since 2004 and a keen walker.

Daniel Francis

Involvement

Member of the Fares & Ticketing Committee and Consumer Affairs Committee. Lead Member for Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark Borough Liaison.

Background

Daniel Francis has served as a councillor representing Belvedere ward since 2000 and held the post of Bexley Council's Cabinet Member for Transport from 2003 until 2006. A former manager for a large retail company.

Sophia Lambert

Involvement

Member of the Access to Transport Committee and Consumer Affairs Committee. Lead Member for Ealing, Hounslow and Merton Borough Liaison.

Background

Formerly a civil servant with experience in a number of Government Departments, including the Department of Transport

Teena Lashmore

Involvement

Member of the Transport Services Committee and Consumer Affairs Committee. Lead Member for Bexley, City of London and Hackney Borough Liaison.

Background

Has an interest in London's motorbiking and cycling community.

David Leibling

Involvement

Member of London TravelWatch since 2005. Chair of Fares and Ticketing Committee, member of the Executive Group, Transport Services Committee and Luton Airport Transport Forum. Chair of the Red Route Enforcement Forum, Transport for London and Lead Member for Barnet, Harrow and Hillingdon Borough Liaison. Board Member of Passenger Focus, nominated by GLA.

Background

Formerly the Director of Communicarions for Lex, the motoring group. Member of Public Policy Committee, RAC Foundation for Motoring and editor of its editor of its Motoring Towards 2050 series of reports. Until 2009, a non-executive director of the Driving Standards Agency and trustee of Roadsafe, the motor industry's road safety activity. 

Sarah Pond

Involvement

Chair of Consumer Affairs Committee and member of the Access to Transport and Chiltern Railways Passenger Board. Lead Member for Brent, Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea Borough Liaison.

 Lorna Reith

Involvement

Lorna is Deputy Chair of London TravelWatch. Chair of Transport Services Committee and ex-officio member of Fares & Ticketing Committee, Consumer Affairs Committee and is a member of the Access to Transport Committee and Stansted Airport Transport Forum.

Background

Lorna is a local councillor in Tottenham and deputy leader of Haringey Council and is a regular user of the Victoria line. Until June 2006 she was Chief Executive of national charity, Disability Alliance.
